Creating Models

enhanced results chain object typesCreating a model in OMBuilder is just a matter of picking out graphics to represent the types of objects you want to include in your object model. So most of the real work involves (a) figuring out what type of objects your model should include and (b) figuring out what graphics you want to use to represent them. Once you've done that, building the model in OMBuilder is quite easy.

In OMBuilder you simply

Select the graphic you want to use for an object type,
Give the object type (= graphic) the appropriate name,
Repeat for all the object types you want in the model, and then
Save the model.

Note that the actual models are built in the DNE, by linking NEs to other NEs. In OMBuilder you build types of models, by deciding what types of objects your NEs can be in a particular type of  model. For instance, your company may use results chains (a type of object model). In OMBuilder you would create the "results chain" model type by creating a model type with three object types - assumptions, initiatives and outcomes. Once you have "results chain" as an available model, then you can build the actual model in the DNE.
