The DNE displays information relations in a number of different ways, and information that is related in one way may or may not be related in another way, as you see fit. For instance, the relation between pieces of information in the cabinet structure does not have to reflect the contributions and affinities displayed in your NE's association areas in the repository or any object model. Knowledge maps and object models, displayed in the Maps room, allow you to view the complicated and subtle extended repository and object model relations for any NE. However, these maps and models do not display the simpler cabinet relations. Cabinet relations can be mapped on an NE map or a tile map.
A parent map traces the path of relations from the tile mapped to the cabinet in which it stands. If you display the map for a tile, you will call up a route map through the cabinet structure from the NE to which the mapped tile is affiliated to the cabinet in which the tile stands. Each NE in the cabinet that stands along the route appears on the map, and every NE on the map can be activated right from the map.
Some NEs do not exist in cabinets. The map for a tile that lives in such an NE will lead through contributions or affinity until an NE is found that does exist in the cabinet, and will then follow cabinet relations.
