Spill Machine

Most information management applications place restrictions on the way you can order your files. They can be ordered alphabetically by name, chronologically by date, by file size or type. The DNE allows you to organize your information in whatever order is best for you.

Reorganization of tiles within and between NEs and tiles is done with the spill machine. Generally, the order of tiles on a tile scroller is locked. When a new tile is added to a tile scroller, the old tiles retain their order and the new one is added to the end. However, this order can be changed with the tile spiller.

The spill machine is composed of five spill lines. On spill lines you can spill the tiles from up to five NEs at one time. Once spilled, tiles are "unlocked" from their tile scroller and can be reordered within a single NE or they can be moved to another NE. Moving tiles is simply a matter of dragging them from wherever they are to wherever you want them. When tiles are where you want them, they will stay in that order until you decide to reorder them - new tiles will always be added to the end of the scroller.
