In a number of places, the DNE will give a hint that an object is accessible. These hints are given by shadows and reflections on the window. Because the DNE is a three dimensional environment, there are always objects behind you as well as in front of you. The reflection of an object behind you will appear on the window in front of you. Reflections act as reminders of where things are and what is accessible. Some of the shadows and reflections in the DNE are:
| • | In each view, the locations where NEs may be activated is indicated with an NE shadow on the window. |
| • | The cabinet dome in any room is a reflection of the cabinet at the center of the DNE, indicating that you can access cabinet functions from there. |
| • | The association wings appear as shadows in the maps room as a reminder that maps are extended associations |
