NE's Position in an Object Model

Top  Previous  Next

In object model mode, the Maps room allows you to view the impact relations of any NE in a model. The position of the NE in the model relative to the other NEs in the model determines the contribution relations in which the NE stands. The active NE takes center stage in a model on which all the forward and backward contribution relations for the active NE are tracked.

The position of each NE in a model is determined during the construction of the model. In the DNE, models are built link by link, by adding one NE to a contribution wing of another. Direct relations are documented in the wings of NEs, and the DNE builds indirect relations automatically. (If A contributes to B and B contributes to C, then A and B, and B and C, stand in direct relations, and A and C stand in an indirect relation via B.) Because indirect relations are built automatically, you need only specify an NE's position relative to NEs to which it stands in a direct relation. The position of each NE in the model is relative to the other NEs in the model. Because NEs are added to the model like links in a chain, it is easy to track the contributions between NEs: just follow the links.
