How to Populate Contribution Wings

To create a contribution relation between two existing NEs:

1.	Activate either NE, and

2.	Drag any visible NE into either contribution wing.

From the cabinet, the cursor indicates the contribution wings by highlighting the appropriate area in green while showing the NE dropping: backview-NE-droppable-conby (contributions by) or backview-NE-droppable-conto (contributes to)

To create a contribution link between an NE on the bench and the active NE:

1.	Rightclick on the benched NE,

2.	Mouseover Add to...

3.	Select Contributions Left or Contributions Right.

To create a new NE with a contribution link to the active NE:

Either:

1.	Rightclick on the contribution wing and, from the drop down menu, and

2.	Select Add an NE.

3.	The DNE will prompt you to name the NE. Enter a name, and

1.	Drag the from the cabinet roof at the bottom of the room and drop it into the target contribution wing.

To change an affinity relation into a contributions relation:

•	Drag the NE from the affinity area and drop it into either contribution wing.

To unlink any NEs linked by contribution:

1.	Rightclick on the NE in the contribution wing and

2.	Select Delete Reference.

Deleting a reference to an NE does not delete an NE. It just severs the link between two NEs. Both the NEs, however, continue to exist. If you want to permanently delete an NE, this must be done from the cabinet.

Unlike relations of affinity, contribution relations are reciprocal. If one project contributes to a second, then the second receives a contribution from the first, and this reciprocity is reflected in the populating of wings.

Contributions are populated separately for repository mode and for each object model. Just because one NE contributes to another in one mode does not mean that the two stand in any contribution relation in another mode.

In the Maps room, the NE's contribution wings are generally invisible, because the extended contribution or map relations spread across the whole room. However, although the wings are invisible, they do exist and function in the normal way. NEs can be dragged into either contribution wing to add a new relation with an existing NE, or the new/rename ball can be dragged into either contribution wing to create a new NE with that relation to the active NE. Although the wings are generally invisible, they are easy to find because they are in exactly the same place on the NE that they are in any other room, and because they appear as hints when you mouseover the legal drop zone while dragging an NE or the new/rename ball.
