General cabinet functionality is accessed via the menu  on the cabinet dome. However, functionality related directly to particular NEs is accessed by rightclicking on that NE.
The following actions are available as rightclick options for all NEs:
| ► | Rename - allows you to change the name of the selected NE on the fly. The new NE name will be updated automatically everywhere the NE is referenced. |
| ► | Place on the Bench - places selected NE on the bench, making it accessible in any room. You can multiselect NEs to put on the cabinet with SHIFT + click to select all NEs between the two selected NE or with CTRL + click to pick each NE you want. |
| ► | Add an NE - creates a new NE. |
| ► | Delete - removes reference from the active NE to the selected NE. Although the NE no longer appears in the cabinet, it may still be accessed via an association with some other NE. |
| ► | Show Parent Map - displays the upward cabinet relations for the selected NE, tracking the path from the selected NE to the cabinet under which it stands. |
| ► | Show Tree - displays all cabinet relations for the selected NE, presenting the entire tree-structure for the cabinet in which the selected NE exists. The selected NE is highlighted, so that its place in the complete structure is clear. |
| ► | Create Web Address as a Tile - Creates a link to the selected web page and affiliates that page as a tile with the selected NE. To create a web page as a tile, the web page must be open in your browser. |
| ► | Copy/Paste --> - allows you to copy some or all of a current NE and paste them to a new NE. This option allows you to use one NE as a template for others. |
| ► | Import --> - bring information into the NE from outside the DNE, either by creating a tile for a file that has never been in a DNE, or by bringing in a tile or NE (with or without its knowledge map) that has been exported from any DNE). |
| ► | Export --> - export an NE (without associations but with fields, tiles, and tile's fields) in order either to back up a particular set of information or to send the collection of information to another DNE.

| ► | Activate in Room --> - allows you to select a room in which to activate the NE. |
| ► | See the Big Picture --> - displays all information relations for the NE, including several layers of contributions, and all fields and tiles. |
