How to Move Between Rooms

There are a number of ways to navigate through the DNE. It can be done via the menu, or directly, or by the navigation bar or room navigator.

NE TrayThe Menu

To move from any front room to any other room or the cabinet:

1.Click NE Tray. This menu will appear.

2.Mouseover Navigate, and
3.Select the room you want to go to.

To move from the cabinet to any front room:

4.Select the room you want to go to.

To remain at the cabinet, but turn to face a particular room:

1.Click NE Tray. This menu will appear.

Direct Navigation

 

To move from any front room directly to the room next to you.

•To move one room to the right, click on the right edge of the DNE. The navigate right cursor indicates the navigation area.
•To move one room to the left, click on the left edge of the DNE. The navigate left cursor indicates the navigation area.

 

To move directly between any front room and the cabinet.

•Click on the bottom of any room to go to the cabinet.  The navigate cabinet cursor indicates the navigation area.
•From the cabinet you can see three rooms at once but you can easily navigate to any room in the DNE. To enter any of these three rooms, click on that room. The navigate forward navigation bar cursor indicates the navigation area.

•Mouseover any room to receive a prompt as to which room it is. In the example to the right, the mouse is over the Desktop.
•Mouseover any object in any room (e.g., the active NE, any spill line) to receive a prompt as the what that object is.

 

 

Room Navigator and Navigation Bar

 

There is also a room navigator at DNE center and a navigation bar in every front room. Each navigator (as well as the bench selector on the bench clock) has an icon for each room:

To go to a particular room via the room navigator at the cabinet:

1.room-navigatorMouseover the icon for the room you want to go to. The name of whatever room you are mousing over will appear in the middle of the navigator.
2.Click the icon. The DNE will take you the desired room.

 

To face a different room but remain at the cabinet:

1.Mouseover the room you want to face. The hint will expand.
2.Move your mouse downward and toward the center or the navigation bar (i.e., along the highlighted path toward the center of the navigator). The hint will change (Backview will be added) to indicate that the navigator is now targeting the back view of the room selected (which is to say, the room as seen from DNE center).
3.Click the Backview hint. The DNE will take you the desired back view.

 

 

To minimize the DNE on the room navigator:

1.Mouseover the room navigator - exit prompt on the far right side of the navigator,
2.Mouseleft over the shadow of the image12 to get the Minimize prompt (see example here),and
3.Click.

 

 

The navigation bar in each front room works exactly the same as the room navigator. However, you can also bring NE with you between rooms.

 

To move from one room to another via the navigation bar, without bringing an NE with you:

1.The navigation bar is hidden at the top of the DNE. Move your mouse to the top of the screen and the navigation bar will appear.
2.Click the desired room (e.g., navigation bar - fusebox). The DNE will take you there.

 

To move from one room to another via the navigation bar, bringing an NE with you:

1.Drag any NE and
2.Drop it on any room on the navigation bar.

 

 

To minimize the DNE on the navigation bar:

 

1.The navigation bar is hidden at the top of the DNE. Move your mouse to the top of the screen and the navigation bar will appear.
2.Mouseover navigation bar - exit on the far right end of the navigation bar,
3.Mousedown within navigation bar - exit, until it changes to navigation bar - minimize.
4.Click navigation bar - minimize

 

 

 

Keyboard Shortcuts

 

To move between rooms using keyboard shortcuts:

•To move one room left or right, or to rotate at DNE center, hit Shift + left or right arrow key.
•To move back to DNE center from any room, hit Shift + down arrow.
•To move into the centermost of the three rooms visible from DNE center, hit Shift + up arrow.

 

 

Moving the Entire DNE application on your monitor

 

To move the DNE:

 

•Drag the move DNE in the bottom corner of any room.

 

 

To return the DNE to its default position:

•Doubleclick the move DNE.
