The audio/video editor allows you to create audio and video subdocuments and to create multi-line annotated indexes for audio and video recordings. The media editor has a number of parts:
The media editor is opened by clicking the media editor button on the right side of the bench. You only need to open the media editor if you are editing live audio. Otherwise, you can simply rightclick the tile you want to edit and select "Edit". Note, though, that the spill machine must be closed in order to edit audio or video information.
A target NE is set for each set of clips. Up to ten different target NEs can be set, allowing you to organize up to ten sets of clips at the same time. Any clips saved as subdocuments are sent to their target NE. A target NE is set by dragging any NE into the media editor. Target NEs are set along the left side of the media editor.

The play button on the media editor controls the source tile. This button toggles between play and pause . The media editor stands at the right side of the bench.

Once the source recording is playing, most of the controls for each topic recorder are on the left side of the line.
Clips are made with the record buttons on each of the ten topic recorders.
| • | Click the to start recording a clip. The turns into a to indicate that it is recording. |
| • | Click the to stop recording a clip. The turns into a to indicate that it is no longer recording. |
Audio clips
and video clips are represented visually along the recording lines between the record buttons on the right that controls when clips start and stop, and their target NEs on the left.
The media scroller is a two part scroller that allows for greater precision when scrolling through large files than is possible with a traditional scroller.
| • | The top half of the scroller works exactly like the traditional scroller, in that it scrolls the entire duration of the audio or video clip when you drag it. |
| • | The bottom half of the scroller also works by dragging, but always scrolls through only a one minute period. |
Therefore, the scroller is used by finding a particular point as closely as possible with the scroller and then pinpointing the exact instant with the scroller. The media scroller stretches along the bottom of the editing area, beneath the lowest topic recorder.
The timer lets you know where you are in the clip, and allows you to navigate a session or a source recording by directly inputting a time rather than navigating visually. The timer is attached to the bottom left of the media editor.
Along the bottom of the media editor there are three controls:
| • | Click to save the entire session as a tile. |
| • | Click to update the existing session tile. |
| • | Click to close the session. |
