•
Drag any visible NE or tile onto the bench, or
•
Select the NE or tile and click the on the speed menu, or
•
Rightclick on the NE or tile and select Place on the Bench.
To put your NE or tile on a different bench in a different room from the room you are currently in:
1.
Mouseover an icon on the bench room selector at the bottom of the bench clock. As you pass your mouse over each square room icon on the selector, the selector will display the name of a different room.
2.
Click the selector when it displays the room whose bench you want.
3.
Then,
•
Drag any visible NE or tile onto the bench, or
•
Select the NE or tile and click the on the speed menu, or
•
Rightclick on the NE or tile and select Place on the Bench.
If the bench for a different room is being displayed, then the tiles and NEs on the bench are displayed against a background like in the example to the right here. If the bench for the current room is displayed, the tiles and NEs do not show up against any background. By default, the bench for the room you are in is displayed. When you exit and return to a room, then, no matter what bench was displayed there last, the bench always returns to its default display.
From the cabinet you can multi-select NEs to put more than one on the bench at once. Either SHIFT + click to select all NEs between the selected NEs or CTRL + click on each NE you want to select.
To insert a benched tile into a spill line or add it to a stack in a spill line (in workrooms only):
•
Drag the tile and drop it either between two other tiles or on top of the stack.
To display benched objects in the large results screen as well as on the bench (displays more NEs and tiles, and, for tiles, lists their NEs):
•
Click the on the right end of the room indicator .
The large bench list can be especially valuable if you have a large number of objects on the bench.
To determine in which object model you are currently working:
•
The up-to-four objects inside the bench clock on the left side are the first four objects in whatever object model mode you are in. In the example there are only three objects displayed because this model only contains three objects.
To read the bench clock indicators:
•
At the bottom of the bench clock is the room indicator . The highlighted symbol indicates the bench currently displayed (in the example here, the highlighted indicates that the Internet Manager is currently displayed), the name of which is displayed in the hint screen when you mouseover the highlighted symbol
•
To the left of the bench clock there is a tile indicator that tells you how many tiles are on the bench in the room displayed, and whether those tiles are shown or hidden. In the example, there are two tiles on the bench. The green arrow on the tile indicator tells you that these tiles are currently hidden.
•
To the right of the bench clock there is an NE indicator that tells you how many NEs are on the bench in the room displayed, and whether those NEs are shown or hidden. In the example, there are fifteen NEs on the bench. The red dash on the NE indicator tells you that these NEs are currently shown.
To merge the contents of two benches (add NEs and tiles from one bench to another):
1.
Go to the target room (if you want to add the contents of the Internet Manager room's bench to the Maps bench, then go to the Maps room).
2.
Click the appropriate room icon (here, the Internet Manager icon ) on the room indicator on the bench clock. The NEs and tiles on the bench to be added appear with the "other bench" background .
3.
Rightclick anywhere on the background (not on the tiles or NEs), and
4.
Select Merge these benched Tiles and NEs with the current room's bench. The DNE will merge the two benches onto the target bench, and will open the target room's bench.
When two benches are merged, the NEs and tiles added to the target bench are not removed from their original bench. They are made accessible from both benches.
