How to Populate the Cabinet

To create a cabinet in the cabinet structure:

Either:

1.Drag the new NE - rename NE into the cabinet panel.
2.The DNE will prompt you to name the new cabinet. Enter a name and click OK.

Or:

1.Click NE Tray.
2.This menu will appear:

Select Create a New Cabinet.

3.The DNE will prompt you to name the new cabinet. Enter a name and click OK.

 

To create an NE in the cabinet structure:

Either:

1.Cabinet Drawer with NEOpen the cabinet and NE that you want the new NE under:
1.Drag the desired Cabinet Bar from the roof and drop it into any panel, then
2.If necessary, drag desired NE Bars into panels until the target NE is open.
2.Drag the new NE - rename NE into the target panel.
3.The DNE will prompt you to type the NE name. Enter the name and
4.Click OK.

Or:

1.Click NE Tray.
2.This menu will appear:

Select Create a New NE in...

3.The DNE will prompt you to type in the new NE name. Enter the name and click OK.

To add an already existing NE to the cabinet, from a front room:

1.Open the target NE in the cabinet as above.
2.Then, go to any front room and ensure that the desired NE is active, or in any association or in history.
3.Rightclick on the NE,
4.Mouseover Add to cabinet NE and
5.Select the appropriate NE.

 

affinity - cabinet mode - full areaTo add an already existing NE to the cabinet, from the search engine:

1.In any front room, activate the NE to which you want the added NEs to be subordinate in the cabinet, and
2.Click affinity - cabinet mode in the affinity area of the NE (this will probably be in the top right corner of affinity - if affinity is displaying its default - but can be on the left - if affinity is displaying passive affinities only). The affinity - cabinet mode will rotate to the middle and the affinity background will turn green, as on left.
3.In the search engine, find the results you want to add to the cabinet.
4.Select the desired results, and
5.Click button save to affinity.

The selected NEs will appear below the active NE in the cabinet.

 

To create a new NE in a cabinet and activate it, from a front room:

Either:

1.Open the target NE in the cabinet as above.
2.Then, go to any front room
3.Rightclick on any association area or on the active NE or any associated NE ,
4.Mouseover Create and open an NE in Cabinet...
5.The DNE will prompt you to type the NE name. Enter the name and
6.Click OK. The NE will be added to the appropriate cabinet and will also be activated in the room you are in.

Or:

1.Open the target NE for your new NE in the cabinet,
2.In the front room, click NE Tray to access the cabinet menu. You will then be able to select from the following menu:

3.Mouseover Create and open an NE in Cabinet...
4.A submenu will list all the NEs currently open in the cabinet. Select the target NE.

To drag a file into an NE in the cabinet:

1.Open the target NE in a panel, as above.
2.Click the bench clock DNE explorer prompt. DNE explorer will open.
3.Find the file you want, and
4.Drag it into the target panel.

 

To recreate some or all of your Windows® Explorer® folder structure in cabinets:

1.Drag the desired folder from Windows® Explorer® and drop it into the panel under the appropriate cabinet or NE.
2.The DNE will ask you to press YES to create new files that are brought into the DNE, or to press NO to link to the files that are still managed externally.
3.The DNE will tell you that folders have been selected and will ask if you want to create sub-cabinets.
Click YES to recreate the entire tree under the selected folder, or
Click NO to bring in only the selected folder and its files.

An NE can only exist in one place in the cabinet structure, since the cabinet is a one-to-many tree structure. If you rightclick an NE and are not given the Add to cabinet NE option, then the NE probably already exists in a cabinet.

 

ex_blueWindows® Explorer® uses a tree structure to manage information. Consequently, folders can only be brought into the DNE's cabinet, which manages all tree structure relations. Folders cannot be brought into the affinity area or contribution wings of an NE, since these relations are not tree-type relations.
