Click the in the bench clock at the center of the bench, immediately above the search engine to open or to close the explorer.
To search for a file:
•
The drives on your computer are accessed on the bottom of the DNE explorer:
1.
Click the at the bottom right corner of the explorer,
2.
Select the drive you want to search [here: e (work)].

Folders are opened in the left window:
•
Doubleclick on any folder to open it. All subordinate folders will appear in the left window, and all files contained in the folder will be visible in the right window [here E:\My Documents\DNE info is the open folder].
To create the file as a tile:
1.
Make the target NE visible anywhere in the DNE. It may be the active NE, any associated NE or on the bench.
2.
Open DNE Explorer,
3.
Find the file in DNE Explorer,
4.
Drag the file out of the explorer, and
5.
You can either add the tile to the end of the tile scroller or you can replace any tile on the scroller.

To add the tile or tiles to the end of a scroller, drop the tile or tiles on top of the name bar, or
•
To replace one tile with another, drop the tile you are bringing in directly on top of the tile you want to replace.
Replacing one tile with another tile is only an option if you are dragging the new tile into the active NE. If you are dragging the tile into an NE in history or associations, the new tile will be added to the end of the scroller.
To search for files in a particular medium:
1.
Click the at the top right of the DNE explorer,
2.
A dropdown menu will list the media by which the explorer will sort files.
3.
Select the medium by which you want to sort. [here All Tile Types has been selected].
Note that files are sorted by tile type (e.g., "Image") and not by file format (e.g., ".bmp"), so, for instance, all images will be grouped together, whether they are bitmaps or jpegs or gifs. Tile type is indicated on the tile icon to the left of the file name
You may want to bookmark the folder or folders that you use most often rather than opening the same series of folders every time you want to bring in new tiles. For instance, if you often place Word documents in a Temp folder before bringing them into the DNE, then you can bookmark all Word files in Temp. This is done by saving an explorer configuration that you can access at any time in the explorer.
To save an explorer configuration:
1.
Open the folder you want saved,
2.
Determine the tile type (optional), and
3.
Click the at the top of DNE explorer.
To open a saved configuration:
1.
Click the to the left of the at the top of the DNE explorer,
2.
Select the folder from the drop down menu. The explorer will open it automatically and show its files.
To delete a saved configuration:
1.
Click the to the left of the at the top of the DNE explorer,
