History Area

NE-areas-history-onceThe DNE makes information actionable by situating NEs in context. Context can be built around an NE by populating its association areas or an NE can be put into the context of a object model. Another important context in which information is understood is in terms of other work engaged in at the same time. The history area keeps a list of the other NEs activated during a work session, so your recent work is always at your fingertips.

The history area opens upward from the top gold bar history bar on the active NE with the most recent project at the bottom (closest to the active NE). It is easy to search history for the information you want, since you can access the fields of or report the contents of any NE in history, without leaving the NE that you are currently working on and without losing your place. Up to four NEs are displayed in the history area, but the area is scrollable, and you can access all NEs activated no matter how many NEs you may have used in a session.

History is retained from room to room, but only for the duration of a work session. When you leave the DNE, the history area is cleared, except for the most recent three NEs, which remain. This way you have a sense of what you were doing just before you left the office, but your history remains a daily log.
