Image Highlight Tiles

The DNE allows you to edit image tiles in a variety of different ways.

Image highlight tiles include only a selected area or detail within the original image.
Annotation tiles include the original image as well as a variety of annotations (texts, lines and arrows, shading) that you add to the image.
Scrapsheets collect together a variety of image highlights from different images, along with a hyperlink to each of the source images.

Image highlight tiles allow you to focus attention on particular details without calling up an entire image. However, even while concentrating on the detail, it is important to keep track of the context. From any edited highlight it is always possible to retrieve the source or parent image, even if the parent tile and the highlight or child tile are each affiliated with a different NE. The DNE tracks parent/child relations for all image subdocuments, even when the new tile is a scrapsheet that contains highlights from more than one parent.

While you can create any number of scrapsheets, the most recently used scrapsheet stays in the scrapsheet machine until it is replaced. This allows you to add images to a scrapsheet without worrying about losing the scrapsheet while accessing the various images that you want to add. The scrapsheet machine is accessible on the multipurpose control on the right end of the bench in any of the three workrooms.

All image highlight tiles are created with the image editor, which can be used in any workroom.
