DNE Explorer

Top  Previous  Next

The DNE has its own explorer that allows you to look through the files in your computer and makes it easy to create tiles for any of these files. Because the DNE explorer is played in the media player, it is accessible in any room in the DNE, which means that you can add tiles to an NE right when you need them. Just open the explorer and drag a file into the DNE.

The explorer has two columns. The left column displays the folder structure as it exists on your computer. This column is only used to navigate within the explorer; folders cannot be dragged onto NEs. The right column displays the files within any selected folder in the left column. Any file in the left column can be dragged into the DNE to create a tile.

New tiles created in the DNE explorer can either be added to the end of an NE's tile scroller or they can replace a tile already on the scroller. Because one tile can easily be replaced by another, it is easy to keep information up to date: simply replace old tiles with new.

The explorer also allows you to save configurations. If there is a particular folder that you often access to bring information into the DNE, simply save the configuration, and a shortcut to that folder will always be available at a mouseclick. Some configurations are already included in the explorer. You can always access:

My Desktop
My Documents
My Pictures

You can limit the explorer display to show only files of a certain type. For instance, if you want to bring in an image, you can limit the explorer display to show only the image files that exists in your folders.

i_blueNote the tile icon next to each file name. Because the DNE explorer is used to create tiles, which are distinguished by their medium, the explorer organizes files by medium, not by file extension. This means that you do not need to remember if, for instance, you saved a particular image as a .bmp or a .jpg: simply search a folder for all image files and the explorer will find every image in that folder, regardless of the format in which it is saved.
