When bringing a new tile into the DNE, you have a choice as to whether you want to copy the file as a tile or to link the file to a tile. There can be good reasons to opt for either choice, and it is easy to copy some files and link to others.
| • | If you copy the file, then the tile is a separate entity from the file copied. The tile refers to the copy of the file in the DNE and not to the original file itself that remains outside the DNE. The copy is independent from the original, so any change that affects one will not affect the other. |
| • | If you link the tile to the file, then the file is not copied into the DNE. Rather, the tile provides a link to the outside file. Because in this case there is only one file (rather than an original and a copy), changes to the file outside the DNE affect the tile worked on in the DNE and vice versa. |
