Other Elements

Along with desktops, the cabinet, spill, the bench and the internet manager, the DNE Desktop has several other tools for helping you manage your knowledge. These are the more important ones:

kNowledge Elements (NEs) are like folders, but with some expanded capabilities so that they can take advantage of the cabinet and spill.

Tiles are like files, but with some expanded capabilities so that they can take advantage of the cabinet and spill.

Subdocuments are passages in larger documents that can be managed as though they were independent pieces of information.

Previews are thumbnail images that can be added to any NE, tile, folder or file to quickly indicate what the object is.

Shortcut Desktops are links in the desktop area to access commonly used folders in your regular folder structure.

The Search Engine finds NEs and tiles.
