| • | Click  on the left column toolbar. |
How to spill an NE
| • | Drag an NE  from the bench onto any of the five spill lines. |
How to view contents of an NE
NEs contain tiles. Tiles for all spilled NEs are displayed either as thumbnails (if the file is an image, or if you set a preview for the file) or as tiles  with inscriptions identifying the file type (for instance, an Adobe® Acrobat® tile is indicated like this:  ). By default, tile names are not displayed, but the names for the tiles in any spilled NE can be seen by simply selecting that NE. To select an NE:
| • | Click anywhere in that NE's spill line. All tiles in the NE will be listed in the right column, under the single . |
How to create a tile
| • | Drag a file from the bench and drop it on the spill line for the NE, or |
| 1. | Rightclick in the spill line for the target NE, |
| 2. | Select Create new Tile(s). |
| 3. | The DNE Desktop will open a navigator window. Find the file you want to add to this NE, select it, and |
 Note that all tiles created via the rightclick method point to files that remain outside the DNE Desktop.
How to play a tile
| • | Doubleclick the tile, either from the spill line or from the right hand list. The file will open in its native format. |
How to rename a tile
| 1. | Rightclick the tile and select Rename this Tile, |
| 2. | A New Tile Name dialogue box will appear. Enter the new tile name and click OK. |
How to delete a tile
| • | Select the tile and hit delete on your keyboard, or |
| • | Rightclick the tile and select Delete this Tile. Click OK when prompted. |
How to reorder tiles within an NE
| • | Drag any tile in between any other tiles, or to the beginning or end of any spill line. |
How to move a tile from one NE to another
| 1. | Open the NE that the tile you want to move is currently in, on any line, |
| 2. | Open the target NE on any other line, and |
| 3. | Drag the tile from its current location to any position in the target NE. |
