Other preferences are set in the Application Defaults window. To access the window:

1.Click Settings, and
2.Select Application Defaults. This dialogue box will appear:

Set tab page style - display multiple desktops as tabs or as buttons

Snap to grid - make it easy to align objects by letting DNE Desktop automatically snap them to the background grid. There are several grid size options.

Set connection points - connection points are the points to which connecting lines connect.  You can either display the connection points desktop - connection points example - NE with or hide them desktop - connection points example - NE without. The choice is just aesthetic.

Open Windows® folders showing the folders toolbar - when you open a folder from the desktop, you can either open the folder as a single window that displays only the selected folder, or you can open the folder along with the explorable tree structure.

Show image instead of Icon where possible - for objects that have thumbnails, you can display either the thumbnail for the object or you can display the icon for the information type.
