The rightmost of the two desktop dropdown menus set line preferences.
Lines can have arrowheads at either, either or both ends.

You can change the preference at any time.
How to add a line
| 1. | Ensure that the desktop is enabled for connection lines. |
| • | If the button immediately to the right of the line dropdown menu is engaged then the desktop is already enabled for connection lines |
| • | If the button immediately to the right of the line dropdown menu is not engaged then click the . It will turn into to indicate that connection lines are enabled. |
| 2. | Click the object that you want the line to extend from, and then |
| 3. | Click the object that you want the line to extend to. |
If you select begin head or end head, then you must click the two objects in a particular order in order to make the arrow head appear at the correct end. The object clicked first is the beginning end of the arrow and the object selected second is the end of the arrow. If you select straight or double head, then object selection order will not matter.
How to remove a line
| 1. | Rightclick the object on either end of the line that you want to remove, |
| • | If the selected object is only connected to something else by the very line you want to remove, then select Disconnect, or |
| • | If the selected object is connect to more than one other thing by more than one line, mouseover Disconnect from.. and select the object that you want to disconnect from. |
How to change line type
| • | Redraw the line using the desired line type. Note that you do not have to remove a line before redrawing it - you can redraw a line right over the existing line to replace it. |
It is recommended that you enable line drawing only when you want to draw lines, and otherwise to disable it. Otherwise it is easy to add a line you don't want.
When the desktop is enabled for lines, an object can only be opened via doubleclicking if it is already selected. If you want to open any other object, simply click it once to select it, and then doubleclick it to open it. When the desktop is not enabled for lines, you can open anything by doubleclicking it.
