About the Bench bench 16x16

bench backgroundThe bench is the bottom area that remains constant no matter which area of the DNE Desktop you are using. It is like a "universal desktop", because it is always accessible.

Because it is always accessible, the bench is very useful for several things, including:

Managing easy access to information that is not specific to any of the tasks for which you have set up a desktop,
Holding information temporarily while you decide where it belongs, and
Moving information from one area of the DNE Desktop to another, for instance from the cabinet to spill or from one desktop to another.

The bench is also the arrival area for subdocuments and Outlook® emails. When these are saved to the DNE Desktop, then land on the bench. From there, you can drag them to any NE in the cabinet or in spill.

The bench works entirely by drag'n'drop. When you drag something onto the bench, from the cabinet, from spill, from a desktop or from outside the DNE Desktop, it will stay on the bench until it is dragged somewhere else.
