| What's the difference between the DNE and the DNE Desktop? |
The DNE Desktop takes some important DNE functionality – multiple desktops, cabinet, spill, subdocumenting, configuration saves and internet browse management – and sets it in a more conventional interface. The DNE includes functionality – many-to-many knowledge management strategies, meta-data fields, knowledge maps and object modeling, multimedia editing and indexing – that the DNE Desktop doesn't have.
|
| Why would I use multiple desktops? |
The desktop is a convenient way to manage information you are using – you can keep everything at your fingertips. But, if you only have one desktop and it already has system and application links on it, it will quickly get cluttered if you try to use it to manage folders and files. With multiple desktops, you can set up a different desktop for each of the tasks you're working on, meaning you can access all the information you need at a mouseclick.
|
| How many desktops can I have? |
Unlimited.
|
| What is a saved configuration? |
A configuration is whatever is in front of you, laid out as it is currently laid out. When you save a configuration you can go back to it any time, at a mouseclick.
|
| What does the cabinet do? |
The cabinet is basically a tree structure. It has three advantages over many trees:
- 12 branches displayed at once
- always reopens to it state on previous close
- save and recall any number of configurations
|
| What is spill? |
Spill let you put your information in the best order for you. Your most important information doesn't always start with an “A”, so why should you manage your information in alphabetical order?
|
| Can I try it for free? |
Of course. Try it for a month, see what you think.
