| What is the Dekstrus Map Authoring Program? |
The Dekstrus Map Authoring Program is one way that we get the maps that are available for download. We provide map authors with cutting-edge knowledge management software – the DNE – in exchange for which map authors provide us with cutting-edge maps.
| What do you get? |
You get a copy of the DNE – we think it's the most advanced piece of knowledge management and modeling software you're going to find – for free.
| What do you have to do? |
You have to provide four good quality maps within six months. You pick the topic, or see if your expertise matches up with a requested map. Give us four maps, and the DNE is yours to keep.
| What do you look for in a map? For instance, Wikipedia won't let me publish my original research. |
If it's valuable, we want it. Original research is good. Organization and presentation of existing knowledge is good. Step-by-step instructions for completing various tasks is good. You can even make a good map that indexes links to information on other sites throughout the web.
| You say you have to “review” and “accept” maps. Does this mean I have to be Einstein to get my free software? |
No, you don't have to be a super-genius. We just want to make sure that the maps we host are useful and accurate. Mostly, we don't want to give people expensive software if they are only going to give us a map of “how to make a peanut butter sandwich”. But if your map is interesting and worthwhile, it will be accepted.
| Do I have to be in the authoring program to upload a map? |
No. Any registered user can upload a map. Being in the program doesn't get you preferential treatment. It just gets you free software.
| Should I apply? |
Do you have knowledge or expertise you want to share? Then we want you to share it! Do you like to explore different tools for gathering, managing and sharing knowledge? Then you'll want to use the DNE to map your knowledge. Why not share your work, and save the price of the software?
